Agadir in 3 Days: The City, the Beach and One Day Out

Three days is the right length for Agadir: one day for the city sights, one for the beach and an activity, and one for a day trip. Here is the plan for each day, how to choose the trip, and what it all costs.

Book two things, check one date. Book your day 2 activity and day 3 trip a day or two ahead in high season (sunset camel rides sell out). Make sure your city day is not a Monday: Souk El Had is closed. The cable car and kasbah are pay at the gate.

Day 1: the city

Follow the 1-day itinerary. In short:

  1. 09:00 Souk El Had (free, closed Mondays), 1.5–2 hours.
  2. 11:00 Amazigh Heritage Museum (~20 MAD) or the Jardin d'Olhão and the earthquake memory museum.
  3. 12:30 Grilled fish at the port stalls, 50–120 MAD; agree the total first.
  4. 14:00 Marina and beach, then walk 15 minutes to the cable car station.
  5. Two hours before sunset: cable car (130 MAD) and kasbah (90 MAD), then sunset from the free esplanade (around 17:15 in December, 19:45 in late June).

Day 2: beach and one activity

Mornings are calmer at sea and cooler on land; afternoons bring wind. Pick one of these:

  1. Surf morning in Taghazout. Bus L32 or a shared taxi (15–25 MAD a seat) 19–20 km north. A 2–2.5 hour group lesson with board and wetsuit is 250–450 MAD. Lunch in the village (tagine 40–70 MAD), afternoon on the beach. Best for beginners April to October. Surf guide.
  2. Beach morning, quad afternoon. Swim and sunbathe on the city beach (sunbed 30–100 MAD), then a 3–5 hour quad trip with pickup (€13–28) in the hills or the Timlaline dunes. Closed shoes and long trousers. Quad guide.
  3. Beach day, sunset camel ride. A lazy day, then a camel ride along the Souss estuary with barbecue dinner (€35–51), or the 2-hour ride with tea (€16–20). Camel guide.
  4. On the water. A 4–5 hour fishing and swimming trip with fish barbecue lunch from the Marina (€32–37), afternoon on the beach. Boat trips.

Evening: a hammam (15–20 MAD public, 250–450 MAD with massage) takes off the sand and the quad dust.

Day 3: choose your trip

  1. Paradise Valley (half day). Natural pools under palms, about an hour inland. Free entry; tours €12–19. Leave early: arrive before 10:00, before the tour buses. Best March–May and September–November. Guide.
  2. Taroudant and Tiout (full day). Intact ochre ramparts and calm souks 80–85 km east, often with the Tiout oasis. Tours from €30, or CTM bus 65 MAD (09:00 out, 16:45 back). Guide.
  3. Essaouira (10–11 hours). The blue boats and ramparts 3–3.5 hours north; tours €36–43. A same-day return by CTM bus gives only about 3 hours there. Guide.
  4. Legzira and Tiznit (10–12 hours). The red arch, only at low tide, and the silver souk of Tiznit; tours around €70. Guide.
  5. Souss-Massa National Park (half to full day). Bald ibis and flamingos (October–March); tours 350–500 MAD. Guide.
  6. With children: Crocoparc (half day). 100 MAD, 70 MAD for children 3–12; their own shuttle package is 250 MAD. Guide.

3 days in Agadir: frequently asked questions

Which day trip is best from Agadir for 3 days?

For most first visits, Paradise Valley: free entry, about an hour away, half-day tours at €12–19, back by mid-afternoon. For culture, Taroudant (from €30, or 65 MAD each way by CTM bus). Essaouira and Marrakech are better with a night there; with only three days they eat a whole day in a minibus.

In what order should I do the three days?

Put the city day on any day except Monday, when Souk El Had is closed. Put the day trip on the day with the worst beach forecast, and do not put a long trip on your departure day. If you arrive at midday, start with the beach-and-activity day: it works in half a day.

How much do 3 days in Agadir cost?

About 920–1,945 MAD (€85–175) per person excluding the hotel, with one paid activity, one shared day trip and simple meals. Add a hammam and the airport transfer. The breakdown is below; every price is on our prices page.

Can I see the desert from Agadir in 3 days?

Not the Sahara: 3-day Merzouga tours from Agadir (€125–180) spend most of the time on the road. For a taste of dunes, a quad, buggy or camel trip to the Timlaline dunes by the sea, about 50–55 km north, fits in half a day.

Is 3 days in Agadir too much?

No, as long as one day is out of town. The city itself takes a day; the rest of Agadir is the beach, the sea and the hills behind it. With a fourth day, add a second trip or a surf lesson; with a week, see one week in Agadir.

What is the best time of year for this plan?

March to May and September to November: warm (highs of 23–26 °C), little rain, water in Paradise Valley, flamingos from October. In July and August the beach is busiest and inland trips are hot. Month-by-month details in best time to visit Agadir.
