Nothing here sells out weeks ahead. Pay at the gate for the cable car (130 MAD return): online resellers charge about double. Two traps: Souk El Had is closed on Mondays, and the kasbah enclosure shuts around 19:00 (20:00 in summer), so a night cable car ride gets you the view but not the kasbah.
In the city
1. Ride the cable car up to Agadir Oufella
Six minutes over the port to the hill above the bay. 130 MAD return (~€12), 100 MAD for children under 1.40 m, from the lower station by Pont Tildi, 15 minutes' walk from the Marina. Daily from 10:00 until late evening; it stops in strong wind. Verdict: the one thing everyone should do. Cable car tickets guide →
2. Walk the Agadir Oufella Kasbah

One of Morocco's biggest markets: 3,000+ shops inside walls with 13 numbered gates, from spices and dates to babouches and rugs. Free, closed Mondays, busiest on Sunday. Verdict: the most local thing in Agadir; go on a Tuesday to Thursday morning. Souk El Had guide →
4. Medina Polizzi
A medina built from 1992 by the Italian artist Coco Polizzi in traditional rammed earth, with craft workshops at fixed prices. 40 MAD, about 09:00–18:00, in Ben Sergao 4–6 km south of the centre (taxi 30–50 MAD). Verdict: photogenic and calm, but a recreation, not a living old town. Medina Polizzi guide →

A free downtown garden (about 08:00–19:00) with a small memory museum of the 1960 earthquake in photos and archives, around 10–20 MAD, closed Monday. Verdict: 30–45 minutes that make the kasbah make sense. Check hours on our open now page.
7. The Mohammed V Mosque in Talborjt
Non-Muslims cannot go in, as at almost every mosque in Morocco; you see the exterior only, and should not photograph people at prayer. Free. Verdict: a ten-minute stop, not a destination. (The Vallée des Oiseaux park is closed for rebuilding, with no confirmed reopening date.)
Beach & sea

Verdict: why you are here, but swim only between the flags: rip currents cause drownings every year. Agadir beaches guide →
9. Sunset on the corniche and the Marina

Morocco's surf village, 19–20 km north (Alsa bus L32 or a shared taxi at 15–25 MAD a seat). A 2–2.5 hour group lesson with board and wetsuit costs 250–450 MAD. Verdict: the best half day out of town; beginners do best from April to October. Taghazout surf guide →
13. Danialand water park
Slides and pools run by the cable car's operator, opened in June 2024. 190 MAD from 5 April to 10 July, 250 MAD from 11 July to 31 August; under 1.40 m 150/210 MAD. The end of the season is not confirmed: check before going. Verdict: good for families in summer, packed on July–August weekends. Water parks guide →

Activities
15. Quad biking
Shared 3–5 hour trips with hotel pickup and 1.5–2 hours of riding in the hills or the Timlaline dunes, €13–28 per person on GetYourGuide; an operator's 1-hour ride is about €19. Drivers 16+, children 6+ as passengers. Verdict: the most popular activity; confirm how long you actually ride. Quad biking guide →
16. A buggy tour
4–5 hours of desert and beach in a buggy, €32–57 per person, or €65–70 for a private buggy. Verdict: better than a quad for couples and anyone nervous on handlebars. Quad & buggy prices →
17. A camel ride
Two hours along the Souss estuary ("flamingo river") with tea and transfers, €16–20; a sunset ride with barbecue dinner €35–51. Flamingos are there mainly October to March, never guaranteed. Verdict: book the sunset slot early in high season. Camel ride guide →
18. A hammam
From a 15–20 MAD neighbourhood hammam to a 90–220 MAD spa scrub, or 250–450 MAD with a massage. Verdict: the best way to end a day of quad dust or sea salt. Hammam guide →
19. Crocoparc
300+ Nile crocodiles, reptiles and five themed gardens, 15 km east at Drarga. 100 MAD adults (~€9), 70 MAD children 3–12, daily 10:00–17:30. Their own shuttle package (250 MAD with entry and guide) beats most reseller deals. Verdict: the best family half day; feeding shows are a summer thing. Crocoparc tickets guide →
Nature

Day trips
22. Taroudant and the Tiout oasis
"Little Marrakech", 80–85 km east: 7.5 km of intact ochre ramparts and calm souks, often paired with the Tiout palm oasis. CTM bus 65 MAD each way; tours from €30. Verdict: the best culture day trip for the time spent on the road. Taroudant day trip →
23. Essaouira
The blue-boat harbour and ramparts 3–3.5 hours north. CTM 105–110 MAD each way; tours €36–43. Verdict: beautiful, but a long day; better with a night there. Essaouira day trip →
24. Marrakech
About 3–3.5 hours each way on the A7 motorway. CTM 135 MAD; tours €35–45 for 12–14 hours. Verdict: doable, but you get 5–6 hours in the medina for 7 hours of driving; one night is far better. Marrakech day trip → · Sights and tickets on tickets-marrakech.com.
25. Legzira beach and Tiznit
The red rock arch (one of the two collapsed in 2016) about 150 km south, with the silver town of Tiznit on the way. Tours around €70. Verdict: spectacular at low tide, pointless at high tide: check the tide table. Legzira & Tiznit day trip →
26. Imsouane
A fishing village 90 km north with "The Bay", one of Africa's longest right-hand waves (rides of 600 m and more). A private taxi from Taghazout is 400–600 MAD return. Verdict: for surfers and longboarders; quiet otherwise. Imsouane day trip →

Numbered grill stalls at the fishing port north of the Marina: pick your fish, it is weighed and grilled with bread and salad. Set platters about 50–120 MAD a person. Verdict: the best meal in Agadir, if you agree the price per kilo and the total before cooking. Fair prices →
28. Tagine, Friday couscous and mint tea
A tagine in a local restaurant costs 35–70 MAD, Friday couscous 40–55 MAD, mint tea 8–15 MAD. Verdict: eat where Moroccans eat, a street back from the beach. Check what you should pay on the fair prices page.
29. Argan oil and amlou from the souk
Argan oil now costs around 600 MAD a litre after drought years; very cheap oil is usually diluted. Amlou (argan, almond and honey spread) is the local treat. Verdict: buy in the souk, not on the "cooperative" stop of a tour. The argan upsell and other scams →
30. A fantasia dinner show or a cooking class

Things to do in Agadir: frequently asked questions
What is the number one thing to do in Agadir?
Ride the cable car up to Agadir Oufella (130 MAD return) and walk the restored kasbah (90 MAD), then stay on the free esplanade for the view over the whole bay at sunset. After that: a morning in Souk El Had and an afternoon on the 6 km beach.
How many days do you need in Agadir?
What can you do in Agadir for free?
The beach and the corniche promenade, Souk El Had (closed Mondays), the free esplanade outside the kasbah walls at the top of the hill, the Jardin d'Olhão, the Marina, the outside of the Mohammed V Mosque and, out of town, Paradise Valley and the Massa sector of Souss-Massa National Park. You only pay for transport.
What should I book in advance in Agadir?
Very little. The cable car, kasbah, Crocoparc and museums sell at the gate, and the gate is the cheapest way in. Book excursions (day trips, quad, camel rides) a day or two ahead in high season: sunset camel slots sell out. Surf camps for October to March fill early. Every price and closing day is on our prices & opening hours page.
What is there to do in Agadir in winter?
Winter is Agadir's high season: January highs average about 21 °C with around 3 rain days a month, and the sea is 16.5–17.5 °C, fine for sunbathing and short swims. It is the season for experienced surfers (big swells from October to March), for flamingos in the Souss and Massa estuaries, and for day trips without the summer heat. The sun sets early, around 17:15 in December. Check the weather and sea today before you plan the day.
What is there to do in Agadir at night?
Ride the cable car after dark for the city lights (the kasbah enclosure itself closes around 19:00, 20:00 in summer, so visit it first), walk the corniche, eat grilled fish at the port stalls, or have a drink in the Marina and promenade bars. Agadir is a resort town: alcohol is easy to find in hotels, bars and supermarkets.
What is there to do in Agadir with kids?
Crocoparc (100 MAD adults, 70 MAD children 3–12), the beach between the flags, the cable car (100 MAD for children under 1.40 m, free under 0.80 m), Danialand water park in the warm season, and a short camel ride. More ideas and what to skip in Agadir with kids.
Is Agadir worth visiting in 2026?
Yes, if you know what it is: a modern beach resort rebuilt after the 1960 earthquake, with light sightseeing and excellent day trips. It is relaxed and low-hassle compared with Marrakech. If you want medinas and palaces, read Agadir or Marrakech? first.
