Agadir Airport to the City: Taxi, Aerobus or Transfer?

Al Massira airport is about 25 km from central Agadir. A taxi costs roughly 200–300 MAD on the posted board, the Alsa Aerobus 50 MAD, and a booked transfer from about €28 per car. Here is how each option works, plus Uber, the cheap local bus, getting to Taghazout, SIM cards and cash.

The rule: look at the fixed-fare board outside arrivals before talking to any driver, and agree the total (luggage included) before loading the bags. Cash only, so take dirhams from an ATM inside first.

Taxi: what it should cost

Cream-coloured grand taxis serve the airport on fixed fares, posted on a board outside the arrivals hall. Agree the fare from the board rather than expecting a meter.

  • To central Agadir: about 200–300 MAD. An airport-information site lists 200 MAD without luggage and 220 MAD with luggage (older figures); travellers in 2025–2026 report 250–300 MAD by day and around 300 MAD or more at night.
  • To Taghazout: about 300–450 MAD.
  • Cash only. Have small notes; break a 200 MAD note at a café in the terminal if needed.
  • Agree before leaving: say the hotel name, point at the board, confirm the total including bags.

In town, orange petits taxis are metered by day and a normal ride costs 15–30 MAD. More about local hustles in Agadir scams.

Alsa AE Aerobus: 50 MAD to the centre

The official airport shuttle, run by Alsa (the city bus operator) since July 2023.

  1. Ticket: buy it on board or at the Alsa desk in the terminal.
  2. Price: 50 MAD one way, 80 MAD return.
  3. Route: to P.E. Vallée des Oiseaux, the city-centre bus hub (the name comes from the nearby bird park, which is closed; the bus stop works). From there, a petit taxi to your hotel costs 15–30 MAD.
  4. Frequency and time: roughly hourly, about 50 minutes. The timetable runs from early morning to around midnight on weekdays and changes by day: check alsa.ma before you fly.

L37: the cheap local bus

Alsa line L37 "Jihadia Souk Inezgane – Aéroport" links the airport with Inezgane. From Inezgane, change to a line such as L97 or L99 to Vallée des Oiseaux. Each ride costs roughly 5–8 MAD in cash, and the whole trip takes 70 minutes or more. Worth it only with a backpack, in daylight and with time to spare.

Uber and other apps

  • Uber launched in Agadir on 1 July 2026 with UberX and UberXL, using licensed operators only. Airport pickup rules are not clearly established yet: open the app in arrivals and keep the taxi rank as plan B.
  • inDrive also operates in Agadir and is often 20–40% cheaper than a taxi for rides in town.
  • Install both before you fly, and have mobile data ready (see below).

From the airport to Taghazout

Taghazout is about 19–20 km north of central Agadir, so from the airport you cross the whole city.

  • Taxi: about 300–450 MAD.
  • Private transfer: booked in advance, price fixed; many surf camps arrange their own.
  • Budget: Aerobus to the centre (50 MAD), then a shared grand taxi (15–25 MAD per seat) or Alsa bus L32 to Taghazout village.

Surf schools, spots and prices: Taghazout surf lessons. Further north, Imsouane is about 90 km from Agadir.

SIM card, cash and first steps

  • SIM card: Maroc Telecom, Orange and inwi have desks in arrivals. Your passport is required. The SIM is free to about 30 MAD; data packs are roughly 100 MAD for about 20 GB or 199 MAD for about 50 GB depending on the offer. eSIMs bought online before you fly avoid the queue.
  • Cash: the dirham is a closed currency, so you cannot buy it at home. ATMs and an exchange counter are in arrivals; exchange rates are regulated with a small spread, so changing at the airport is fine. 1 € is about 11 MAD.
  • Busy airport: Al Massira handled about 3.5 million passengers in 2025 (Morocco’s third airport after Casablanca and Marrakech), with many low-cost and charter flights from Europe.
  • Arriving at night? Book a transfer or expect night taxi fares. Agadir is a calm city; see Is Agadir safe?
  • First day: check today's weather and sea, then plan with Agadir in 1 day or things to do in Agadir.

Agadir airport transport: frequently asked questions

How much is a taxi from Agadir airport to the city centre?

Taxis charge fixed fares posted on a board outside arrivals. Expect about 200–300 MAD (~€18–27) to central Agadir: an airport information site lists 200 MAD without luggage and 220 MAD with luggage, while travellers in 2025–2026 report paying 250–300 MAD by day and around 300 MAD or more at night. Cash only; agree the price before the bags go in.

Is there a bus from Agadir airport?

Yes. The Alsa AE Aerobus runs from the terminal to P.E. Vallée des Oiseaux in the city centre for 50 MAD one way or 80 MAD return, about 50 minutes, roughly every hour. Buy the ticket on board or at the Alsa desk in the terminal; check first and last times on alsa.ma, as they vary by day. The cheaper local line L37 goes to Inezgane, where you change, but it is slow and not suited to big suitcases.

Does Uber work at Agadir airport?

Uber launched in Agadir on 1 July 2026 with UberX and UberXL (licensed operators only). Whether drivers can pick up at the terminal is not clearly established yet, so have a backup: the taxi rank or the Aerobus. inDrive also operates in Agadir.

How far is Agadir airport from the city?

Al Massira airport (AGA) is in Temsia, about 25 km south-east of central Agadir: 25–35 minutes by car, about 50 minutes on the Aerobus.

How do I get from Agadir airport to Taghazout?

A taxi costs about 300–450 MAD, as Taghazout is about 20 km north of the city centre. A pre-booked private transfer is similar and fixed in advance. On a budget, take the Aerobus to the city centre and then a taxi or the Alsa L32 bus north to Taghazout. More on the village in Taghazout surf lessons.

Can I buy a SIM card and dirhams at Agadir airport?

Yes. Maroc Telecom, Orange and inwi have desks in arrivals; bring your passport. The SIM itself is free to about 30 MAD and data packs start around 100 MAD for roughly 20 GB (offers change). For cash, there are ATMs and exchange in arrivals; exchange rates are regulated in Morocco, so changing money at the airport is fine. The dirham cannot be bought abroad.
