Short answer: come in April, May, September or October for warm days, dry weather and space on the beach. Come in winter for 21°C sunshine when Europe is grey, but not for warm swims. July and August are fine for weather, just busy.

The four seasons in Agadir
Spring (March – May): the best all-rounder
Rain fades from about 3 days in March to less than one in May, and sunshine climbs to its yearly peak (297 hours in May, roughly 9.5 a day). Afternoons are 23–24°C. This is the best season for Paradise Valley and Souss-Massa National Park, and flamingo migration peaks in March–April. The only weak point is the sea, still 17–18°C.
Summer (June – August): beach season, busy
Highs of 26–27°C, nights near 19°C, virtually no rain, and none of the 37–40°C heat of Marrakech. Mornings often start hazy with sea fog that clears by late morning. Lifeguards are on duty, the sea warms to 19–20°C and the Danialand water park runs at full price. July and especially August are the busiest months, with Moroccan families on holiday: book hotels early. Sunset is around 19:45 in late June.
Autumn (September – November): warm sea, fewer people
September is the insider’s pick: 26°C air, the warmest water of the year (20.5°C), and the domestic crowds gone. October stays warm with the sea at 20°C, and the cruise season and autumn holidays bring more visitors. November is milder (24°C) with the first rain, around 3 days, and the start of the big-wave surf season.
Winter (December – February): winter sun
21–22°C afternoons, 8–10°C nights and 7–8 hours of sunshine a day make Agadir one of the warmest winter-sun spots within a short flight of Europe. December is the “wettest” month with about 4 rainy days. Christmas–New Year is busy. Sunset comes early, around 17:15 in early December. The sea drops to 16.6°C in February; surfers love winter, swimmers less so.
Swimming season
Realistically, June to October for most swimmers, when the sea is 19–20.5°C. From November to May it is 16.6–18.7°C: fine for a quick dip on a sunny afternoon, too cold for long swims.
- Lifeguards work the main beach from about mid-June to mid-September, 08:00–20:00. Outside that window there are few or none.
- Spring is risky: between April and May 2025, before the official season, there were more than 70 drowning incidents and 5 deaths on Agadir beach, mostly rip currents and holes left by winter storms.
- Flags: a black flag means swimming is prohibited. Never swim at night.

Is Agadir warm in winter?
Warm by European standards: average afternoon highs of 21–22°C from December to February, with 7–8 hours of sunshine a day and only about 3 rainy days a month. Nights drop to 8–10°C, so bring a jacket. The sea is the catch: 16.6–17.8°C, cold for long swims.
When is the sea warmest in Agadir?
August to October, at 20.1–20.5°C on average; September is the peak (20.5°C). The coldest water is in February (16.6°C). The Atlantic here never gets bath-warm: even in summer it is refreshing rather than warm.

It depends on your level. Beginners: April to October, when waves are smaller and cleaner. Experienced surfers: October/November to March, when big northwest Atlantic swells make the point breaks (Anchor Point, Killer Point) work. Winter water needs a 3/2 mm wetsuit. See Taghazout surf lessons.

Ramadan 2027 is expected to start around 8 February 2027 and end around 9 March, with Eid al-Fitr around 10–11 March (the exact dates depend on the moon sighting). When are lifeguards on duty on Agadir beach?
In the summer season, roughly mid-June to mid-September, from 08:00 to 20:00. Outside those months there are few or no lifeguards, and spring is when many drowning incidents happen. Read the safety guide before swimming.
When is Agadir cheapest and least crowded?
June (before Moroccan school holidays), early December, January after the New Year week, and May outside Eid. The busiest periods are July–August (Moroccan families), the European Easter, autumn half-term and Christmas holidays.
