Check the tide before you book. At high tide the sea reaches the cliffs and you cannot walk along the beach to the arch. A tour that arrives at high tide shows you the arch from a distance. Look up the Sidi Ifni tide table and pick a day when low tide falls in the early afternoon.
The Legzira arch today
Legzira became famous for two huge red sandstone arches standing on the beach. One of them collapsed in September 2016. One large arch remains, along with smaller formations along the cliffs. It is still a striking place, especially in late-afternoon light, but most postcards and many online photos show the two-arch view that no longer exists.
The beach is free and there is no ticket.
Tide timing
- Go at low tide. At high tide the water reaches the cliff foot and blocks the walk to and through the arch.
- Use a Sidi Ifni tide table. Sidi Ifni is about 10 km south, so its times are the ones to use.
- Sunset light is the best, so the ideal day has low tide in the late afternoon. That rarely fits a tour's schedule, which is one reason to stay overnight.

CTM fares and times from ctm.ma for a sample day (5 November 2026); tour prices from platform listings, checked October 2026. More benchmarks in Agadir attraction prices.
CTM times on the sample day: Agadir to Tiznit at 05:30, 08:30, 14:00, 16:15 and 18:15, among others. Agadir to Sidi Ifni left at 18:15; Sidi Ifni to Agadir at 11:30 and 19:10 (110–115 MAD). That makes Tiznit an easy bus day trip, while Legzira by public transport needs a night in Sidi Ifni or Mirleft. Check the return times from Tiznit on ctm.ma before you travel. The grand-taxi fare from Sidi Ifni to Legzira is not published; agree it before you get in, and read our Agadir scams guide and fair prices list first.
A private driver is the only way to do Legzira in one day and still pick your hour on the beach. Split between three or four people it can make sense; for a couple, the tour is cheaper.
Tiznit and its silver souk
Tiznit, about 95 km from Agadir, is a walled town known for its silver jewellery souk. It is where most tours stop for lunch or a walk, and it is the easiest part of this trip to do on your own: 40–50 MAD by CTM and about 2–2.5 hours each way.
- Walk in through one of the town gates and head for the jewellery souk.
- Prices are negotiable, as in any souk. Only start bargaining if you mean to buy.
- To see the traditional pieces before you shop, the Amazigh Heritage Museum in Agadir has a collection of Souss silver and coral jewellery.
Mirleft and staying overnight
Our advice: make it two days. Take the bus or drive to Tiznit, continue to Mirleft or Sidi Ifni, sleep there, and walk Legzira at low tide or sunset without watching the clock. The return CTM from Sidi Ifni left at 11:30 on the sample day.
Mirleft is a small surf and beach village between Tiznit and Legzira, about 130 km from Agadir. If you surf, compare it with Imsouane to the north and the schools of Taghazout.
A Legzira day trip, step by step
- Early start from Agadir. Tiznit is 95 km south; the CTM bus takes about 2–2.5 hours.
- Tiznit: the walls, the silver souk, coffee or an early lunch.
- Mirleft: a short stop on the coast road, about 35 km past Tiznit.
- Legzira at low tide: walk down to the beach and along to the arch.
- Back to Agadir: 2.5–3 hours. Count 10–12 hours in total.
Other long days out from Agadir: Taroudant and Tiout (closer, 1h15–1h30), Souss-Massa National Park (on the way south, good for birds), and Essaouira. To fit them all in, see one week in Agadir.
Legzira and Tiznit: frequently asked questions
Is the Legzira arch still there?
Partly. Legzira had two famous red-rock arches; one collapsed in September 2016. One large arch remains, along with smaller rock formations. Many photos online still show both, so set your expectations before you go.
How far is Legzira from Agadir?
About 150 km south, 2.5–3 hours by road, via Tiznit (~95 km) and Mirleft (~130 km). Legzira is about 10 km north of Sidi Ifni. A return day trip means 5–6 hours in the car.
When should I go to Legzira beach?
At low tide. At high tide the sea reaches the cliffs and blocks the walk along the beach to and through the arch. Check a tide table for Sidi Ifni before you set the day, and aim to be on the sand on a falling or low tide. The light is best towards sunset.
Can I get to Legzira by bus?
Partly. CTM runs Agadir to Tiznit (40–50 MAD, about 2–2.5 hours, many departures) and Agadir to Sidi Ifni (115 MAD, about 4 hours, an evening departure on the sample day we checked). From Sidi Ifni you take a grand taxi to Legzira. By bus, Legzira only works with a night in Sidi Ifni or Mirleft; Tiznit alone works as a bus day trip.
How much is a Legzira tour from Agadir?
Headout lists a full-day Legzira and Tiznit tour with lunch at €70 per person. Other agencies list more private versions from about $115. A private taxi for the day was about 1,100 MAD in an older 2017 report; expect more in 2026 and agree the price first.
What is Tiznit known for?
Tiznit is a walled town known for its silver jewellery souk. It is the obvious lunch and shopping stop on the way to Legzira, and the easiest part of this trip to do by bus.
Is Legzira worth a day trip from Agadir?
Only if you time it with low tide and accept a long day (10–12 hours). It is better as an overnight in Mirleft or Sidi Ifni: you get sunset on the beach without rushing back. If you have one free day and no car, Tiznit alone by CTM is easier.
