A long day: about 7 hours on the road for 5–6 hours in the medina. If Marrakech matters to you, give it 1–2 nights. Still deciding between the two cities? Read Agadir or Marrakech.

What fits in a day
- Arrive late morning (08:30 bus, or the tour).
- Jardin Majorelle on a pre-booked slot.
- Lunch, then the souks down to Jemaa el-Fna.
- The Koutoubia minaret, next to the square.
- One palace or monument if time allows, then back to the bus for 17:30.
That is about all 5–6 hours allow. Our sister site's Marrakech 1-day itinerary gives a full route for the day, and tickets-marrakech.com covers every sight in the city.
Why to book Jardin Majorelle ahead
On a day trip, time is the scarce thing. Majorelle sells timed tickets online, and popular slots can sell out. Book a slot that matches your arrival time before you leave Agadir, so you walk in instead of losing an hour. Check live Majorelle availability and the Majorelle Garden tickets guide on our sister site.
Day trip or overnight?
A Marrakech day trip from Agadir works if it is your only chance to see the city. But with about 7 hours of driving for 5–6 hours on the ground, it is the most tiring of the classic trips. One or two nights let you see the city in the evening and avoid the heat of the day.
- Avoid July–August: Marrakech reaches 37–40 °C while Agadir highs stay around 27 °C. See the best time to visit Agadir.
- Shorter alternatives from Agadir: Taroudant is a walled souk town only 1h15–1h30 away; Essaouira is a coastal medina at 3–3.5 h.
- On a week in Agadir, a two-night Marrakech stop fits well; on a 3-day trip, skip it.
Tips
- Start early. The 05:15 bus or an early tour pickup gives you the cooler morning in Marrakech.
- Cash: bring dirhams for taxis, lunch and entries.
- Hustle is higher than in Agadir. Fake guides and pushy sellers are more common in the medina; our Agadir scams guide covers the same tricks.
- Just landed? Do not plan Marrakech for your first day; see Agadir airport to the city to get settled first.
