The easiest real day trip from Agadir. At 1h15–1h30 each way, Taroudant leaves you more time in town than Essaouira or Marrakech. The one CTM bus each way fits a day out: about six hours on the ground for 130 MAD return.
Bus or tour?
| Option | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| CTM bus | 65 MAD each way | Taroudant only; ~6 h in town; no Tiout |
| Shared tour (GetYourGuide) | from €30 pp | Taroudant + Tiout, lunch, hotel pickup |
| Headout | €45 pp | Taroudant + Tiout guided day with lunch |
| Private tour (Viator) | from ~$57 pp | Price drops with group size |
| Local agencies | 250–450 MAD pp | Booked in town; check what is included |
CTM fares and times from ctm.ma for a sample day (5 November 2026); tour prices from platform listings, checked October 2026. Compare with other trips in Agadir attraction prices.
If you only want Taroudant, the bus is the clear winner on price. If you want Tiout too, or would rather not deal with the bus station, a €30 tour with lunch is good value. Some operators only run on certain weekdays, so check availability before fixing your day.
Doing it by CTM
- 09:00 Agadir: CTM departs; book on ctm.ma or at the station, 65 MAD.
- 10:55 Taroudant: arrive, walk into the walled town.
- Morning: calèche ride around the ramparts while it is cooler.
- Midday: lunch on or near Assarag square, then the souks.
- 16:45: CTM back, arriving in Agadir at 18:45.
These times are from a sample day; CTM ran one bus each way. Check your date on ctm.ma the day before. Getting to the bus station from your hotel by petit taxi should be a metered city fare; see our fair prices guide.
What to see in Taroudant
- The ramparts: about 7.5 km of intact ochre walls circle the town. The classic way to see them is a calèche (horse carriage) ride around the outside. Agree the price and the route before you get in.
- Assarag and Talmoklate squares: the two central squares, for mint tea and watching the town go by.
- The Berber souk (Jnane Jamaa) and the Arab souk: silver, leather, spices, everyday goods. A good place to compare prices with Souk El Had in Agadir.
- The tanneries, if you want to see leather being worked.
- Sunday souk: the big weekly market sets up outside the walls, on the road north. Go on a Sunday if you can.
The Tiout oasis
Tiout is a palm oasis roughly 30 km south-east of Taroudant (sources give anything from 20 to 37 km), with kasbah ruins and views over the Anti-Atlas. Tours add it in the afternoon. The CTM bus does not go there; on your own you need a car or a taxi from Taroudant with an agreed price and waiting time. A village souk is reported on Wednesdays.
Driving yourself? On the N10 you pass Drarga, home of the Crocoparc, if you want a stop with kids on the way back.
When to go
- Sunday for the big weekly souk outside the walls.
- Spring and autumn are the most comfortable. Avoid the middle of the day in summer.

Tips
- Carry cash for the calèche, lunch and the souks.
- Unofficial guides may offer to show you around; a polite "no thanks" works. See Agadir scams for the common tricks.
- Combine with other inland and coast trips: Paradise Valley, Legzira and Tiznit or Marrakech. For how they fit together, see one week in Agadir.
Taroudant day trip: frequently asked questions
How do I get from Agadir to Taroudant by bus?
CTM runs Agadir 09:00 → Taroudant 10:55 for 65 MAD, and back at 16:45 → 18:45, also 65 MAD (sample day, 5 November 2026; one CTM bus each way). That gives you almost six hours in town. Book on ctm.ma and check the times for your date.
How far is Taroudant from Agadir?
About 80–85 km east on the N10, 1h15–1h30 by road. Tiout oasis is roughly 30 km further south-east of Taroudant (sources give 20–37 km).
How much is a Taroudant and Tiout tour?
GetYourGuide's Taroudant + Tiout day with lunch starts at €30 per person; Headout lists one at €45. Private versions on Viator start around $57 and depend on group size. Local agencies quote 250–450 MAD. Some operators only run on certain weekdays, so check dates before you plan around it.
Can I visit Tiout without a tour?
Not by CTM: the bus only goes to Taroudant. You need a car, a taxi from Taroudant (agree the price and waiting time first) or a tour. Tours are the simplest way to combine both in one day.
What is there to do in Taroudant?
Ride a calèche (horse carriage) around about 7.5 km of intact ochre ramparts, sit in Assarag and Talmoklate squares, and walk the Berber souk (Jnane Jamaa) and the Arab souk for silver and leather. There are tanneries too. The big weekly souk is on Sunday outside the walls.
Is Taroudant worth a day trip from Agadir?
Yes, if you want an old walled market town without Marrakech's crowds or its 3-hour drive. It is the shortest of the classic day trips from Agadir, and the CTM timetable fits a day out neatly. If you only want a beach day plus one excursion, Paradise Valley is shorter still.
